Real route planning (including turn restrictions) using dglib is already 
implemented in the roadmap editor branch 
http://roadmap.digitalomaha.net/editor.html
Input map data is stored in the postgis tables,
but can be shapefiles or other OGR-compatible format.
Using OSM for route planning will be very difficult
because of the insufficient and randomly tagged 
road features.
