no fix, but try downloading data/maps/top_Australia.jpg from CVS, the
map_koord.txt line is:
top_Australia.jpg    -26.966667 134.125000 10990784

maybe more interesting that the world map, and should be correct.


also of interest from CVS is auto-download local .au maps from:
  http://www.ga.gov.au/mapconnect/

with "gpsfetchmap.pl --mapserver gov_au"  (experimental)

ps - I hope to write a WMS server->gpsdrive script soon, with correct
georeferencing and scaling using GDAL tools(?). Based on r.in.wms and
r.in.onearth scripts from GRASS GIS 6.2.
