Ok I see what you mean now. By streaching out the image the way you
mention do track and waypoints still get drawn in the correct place?
The calculations behind matching up the tracks and waypoints for
different scales and projections are quite complex and I'd be supprised
if everyting still worked.

My C is a bit rusty to and I also haven't done much in a very long time
so we are in the same boat there. I think gently does it and start off
small is the way to get back into it. Others on the list are generaly
happy to provide advice and feed back on sugested changes especially if
they are well thought out and tested. I have been working with gpsdrive
for about a year or two and have mostly been testing and debuging. I
think it is a great program and the only thing I have left to do before
I install in my 4wd is to solve my touch screen problems. (nothing to
do with gpsdrive)

I don't know much about this yet.
As I said before I managed to read and write screen locations to the rc
file but got out of my depth when I tried to do something with them.
Lots of code needed updating to make fit with more modern coding
practices so I never submitted it back to svn. But all a good learning
experience for me.
The autoconf stuff looks (and is) complicated but it actually isn't that
dificult to add a new file to the compilation / install process.
My understanding of svn is that is has all the standard functions of CVS
with a whole lot of extra features. If you only have anonamous acces to
svn you can create a patch of your sugested changes and if it all looks
good someone on the list will apply it to the source and submit it for
you.
