I'm not sure how this discussion got started, so I'll just add a
general warning.
Some older versions of GPSDrive came with a copy of gpsd, equally old.
If you are using that old version of gpsd, please replace it with a
current version. It's available as a separate package in Fedora,
Debian and likely other repositories.
