The final question is: What is the difference between using serial from
gpsdrive and starting gpsd as the same user.
The answer in my eyes is: none of the symptoms mentioned make any difference.
The only difference I see:
- the two tasks are done not as thread, but in 2 processes.
- we have one more socket(or DBUS connection)
- gpsd supports more hardware
and that's it.
So I would strongly vote for this solution!
